Unlock 5.0: What’s opening in Delhi from Today

Date

Starting today, the Delhi Government has relaxed further curbs on the lockdown after a severe dip in Covid’s positivity rate. With 4 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Covid positivity rate in Delhi stands at 0.12%. Announcing a 5th phase in Delhi’s unlocking, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority has issued a fresh set of guidelines.

Gyms have been allowed to reopen at 50% capacity, as is the case with yoga institutes. Gyms that had been suffering losses due to Covid induced lockdown will now find some relief.

Marriage halls and banquets, as well as hotels have also been permitted to host weddings and functions, but the number of people allowed to gather has been capped at 50 according to the order.

Several complaints have been received about the situation outside metro stations, where crowds are forming long queues as authorities are trying to control the metro occupancy at 50%. The metro restrictions, however, will continue for at least another week.

In the last two phases of the unlock, markets and malls were allowed to operate at 50% capacity. This restriction, too was later removed. Metros have been operating since the 7th of June at 50% capacity. Subsequently, public parks and gardens, bars etc. were allowed to reopen.
