WHAT: Heritage and Food Walk through the lanes of Old Delhi

This Sunday, we are taking you on a tour of the newest Old city of Delhi. Yes, you guessed it right! We are visiting the lanes of Shahjahanabad!
Old Delhi, founded in 1639 by the name of Shahjahanabad after Shahjahan, who was the then Mughal Emperor. The city remained the capital of the empire and the hub of cultural development till its fall in 1857, when the British Raj took over. It’s charm lives on in structures spread throughout the entirety of what we now know as Old Delhi, and continue to intrigue travellers and common folk alike.
In this 3-hour walking tour led by Ibrar, you will explore parts of Shahjahanabad that stay hidden even amidst the hustle. You will come across stories that will thrill you, and taste some mouthwatering delicacies that form an important part of the experience.
Itinerary:-
1. Meet at 11:30 AM at Digambar Jain Mandir, opposite Red Fort main entrance. Kindly be on time, we will leave the spot within five minutes of the designated time.
2. We will begin with a history of how the city came about as we enter the Chandni Chowk road from opposite the Red Fort.
3. After that we will head towards Bhagirath Palace market (which is shut on Sunday) to go see the Begum Samru Palace. Before that, the walkers can take a halt and enjoy the curiously named ‘Japani Samosa’.
4. At the Begum Samru Palace we will relive the life of the famous Begum of Sardana whose power and riches made her more powerful than many kings of that era.
5. After that we will enter Dariba Kalan, but not before people can have jalebis at the very Old and Famous Jalebi Wala.
6. Then we will first go and see the Kahazanchi haveli and go deep to see the Navgraha where we may also get the permission to enter the Jain mandir.
7. We will then step out of Paranthe Wali Gali, and head towards Ballimaran to see Ghalib ki haveli. But not before we refresh ourselves with the very famous Goli Soda.
8. The walk will end at the Fatehpuri Masjid where the walkers can enjoy delicious food at Giani’s Hatti and have sweets at Chhaina Ram.
9. If time is left, we can also climb up Khari Baoli’s Gadodia Market and see a panoramic view of Old Delhi.

Guidelines:
- Per head registration cost of the heritage walk is Rs.500, which does not include the payment of foods and snacks that the walkers will consume at their own will.
- Wear a mask, & bring your personal sanitizer.
- Since it is a walking tour, guests are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
- Arrive at the departure point 15 minutes prior to the reporting time.
- Please note that locations are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
- Confirmation will be received within 24 hours of making the payment.
- Please note that tours are subject to weather conditions. If the tour is cancelled due to weather, it will be rescheduled.
- Kindly inform beforehand if you will be accompanied by your kid(s) at the walk. There is no registration fee for children below the age of 12 years, and a 50% registration fee for children between 12-15 years of age.
- The tour route is in public areas over which we have no control. We are not responsible and shall not be held liable for the behaviour of the public, other tour patrons, or any accidents during the tour.
Cancellation Policy:
-If you cancel at least 2 days prior to the day of the walk, there is no cancellation fee.
-If you cancel between 24 hours prior to the walk, there is a 50% cancellation fee.
