Delhi Deputy CM and education minister Manish Sisodia has announced a proposal for enhancing special excellence in separate schools for gifted students in his recent speech. The Delhi Cabinet approved the proposal to set up 100 schools of specialised excellence. Recently there are 5 schools being run by Delhi government which are most rich in resources in terms of faculty and infrastructure.
The main focus of these schools in Sisodia’s proposal were on students from 9-12 standards with four major domains namely (1)Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), (2)Visual arts and Performance , (3)Humanities and (4)21st century skills.
“Our children need an opportunity to be ready for next generation challenges. Every child is unique and gifted; we want to ensure they get the opportunity to achieve higher success in their lives. Schools of Specialised Excellence will provide the right platform for our children to nurture their talent…,” said Sisodia.
He further stated that Schools of Specialised Excellence will provide the students with the right platform for nurturing their talents and excelling in areas of their specialised interests. He further pointed out that the schools will be choice-based and will cover classes from 9 to 12 in the 5+3+3+4 frame of schooling introduced by the National Education Policy 2020. The Delhi State Government schools will also be upgraded to the level of the existing Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya (RPVV) and Schools of Excellence.
The schools of specialised excellence will focus on providing experiential learning opportunities through state-of-the-art infrastructure, creativity and problem-solving focused learning and teaching, strong partnerships with universities and industry leaders, mentorship schemes and easy access to role models, he added.
