Delhi Government’s ‘City of Lakes’

Date

Under the ‘City of Lakes’ project, Delhi Government is developing many lakes in different parts of the city. Chief minister tweeted about one such achievement in Dwarka yesterday.

He mentioned a new lake developed in Dwarka covering a total of 7 acres. This particular lake has been developed in 7 months. The CM also appealed in his tweet for citizens to be aware and spread further awareness in terms of conserving, saving and management of water resources.

“The lake has been recharging more than 50 lakh litres daily for the past 3 months. Recycled water from STP is used which is available 365 days”, AAP MLA Atishi shared on Instagram.

The project now has over 600 lakes that will be developed in near future. “In the next one month, we will float tenders for the revival of 150-200 water bodies. What we have done is that we have standardised the designs for the water bodies, which will ensure faster and more efficient work. Site specific tweaking of design will continue, when and where required,” said Ankit Srivastava, technical advisor to DJB.
