WEEKEND CURFEW: Malls, Gyms SHUT, Home Delivery only

Date

In its highest single-day spike since the beginning of the pandemic, Delhi recorded a staggering 17,000 cases on Wednesday. Following this, the government of Delhi led by CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced a weekend curfew.

Malls, spas, gyms and auditoriums will remain closed and restaurants will only be taking home delivery and takeaway orders. Cinema halls will be allowed to operate on one-third of their capacity during weekdays. Already planned essential activities like weddings and funerals will be allowed with passes. Furthermore, only one weekly market will be allowed per day per zone.

The above guidelines will help break the chain of transmission by controlling the number of outsiders on weekends. The CM addressed the public in a video message and appealed to them to not panic. “All essential products and services will be available throughout the weekend”, he said. He also said that the hospitals are not running out of beds for CoVid patients. “These restrictions are for your sake, for you and you families. It will be inconvenient but these restrictions are necessary to break the chain of transmission”, he further added.
