How to Become a Member

The membership is needed to access all the resources, activities, and benefits from the library. After becoming a member you will get a lot of additional facilities like borrowing books, access to a complete digital library, and the invitation to different events organized by them. It is very easy to become a member of the British Council Library. You have to visit their website and get a link when you go to the membership section. The link brings up a form, you have to fill all the information in that and submit it. Then by making payment you will become a member of this library.

Membership fee

People can apply under Individual Membership and Family Membership. For the individual membership,  you need to pay INR 2200 for one year. Under the family membership, you have to pay INR 4200 for one year and four members can access the facilities. One can apply for digital library membership also and the fee for the same is INR 1800 for one year. Institutional membership can be obtained by paying INR 12,000 for a year. You can also apply for 2 months membership in an individual category and the fee is INR 1000. 

Location and timings 

It is an initiative of the British High Commission and is supervised by them. Branches of this library are in Kolkata and Chennai as well. In Delhi, it is located on the Kasturba Gandhi Marg. Address of Delhi library is British Council Division, British High Commission, 17 Kasturba Gandhi Marg. People can visit on any day from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The library remains closed on Sundays and English as well as Indian festivals. Due to prevailing Covid-19 situations, you need to book an appointment before visiting.
