How to get a Membership
Anyone can use this library and get its membership though there are certain conditions. To become a member, a person should be a resident of India and a minimum of 16 years old in age. It offers two kinds of membership, local and postal, to the people of North India. Through their website, one can apply for membership. The whole procedure is online to an extent, if needed they will contact for further details and documents. Members are allowed to get six books for four weeks from the library apart from that two back issues of periodicals and two DVDs can also be borrowed for four weeks.
Membership fee
Two types of memberships are offered to general people, Individual and family membership. Various institutions can also apply for membership. People of the individual membership category need to pay Rs. 400 for one year and Rs. 700 for two years. Under the family membership, primary members need to pay Rs 500 per year. Those institutions which are Non-Profit organizations can get membership by paying Rs 2000 for one year or 3000 for two years. The profit earning organizations have to pay more in comparison to NGOs. Fee for profit organizations is Rs. 4000 for one year or Rs. 7000 for two years.
Location and timings
It is supervised and run by the Embassy of the United States of America. It is situated in Kasturba Gandhi Marg. The exact address is 24, Kasturba Gandhi Marg (next to the building of Hindustan Times). The Barakhamba metro station is the nearest to it. One can access the library from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on any day between Tuesday to Saturday. On Sundays, Mondays and Indian as well as American holidays it remained close.
