We all love to travel and visit different exciting places. Youngsters of Delhi have a special craze and love for the North Campus of Delhi University. While roaming around Campus we use many roads, which are named after one or the other person. Sometimes we get very curious as to why this road is named after this person. Sudhir Bose Marg

One of the famous colleges of North Campus, St. Stephen’s is reached via a road named Sudhir Bose Marg. He was a student and professor of St. Stephen’s college. He studied philosophy under the tutelage of Lady Wittgenstein. Prof. Bose is credited to have founded one of the oldest philosophical societies of Delhi University, The Philosophical Society of St. Stephen’s College. He was an outstanding student, a brilliant teacher and an excellent administrator. After his death in 1983, the Imperial Avenue was renamed after him in 1986 to honour his legacy. In his memory, the college organizes S.K. Bose Memorial lecture biennially.

G.C. Narang Road

The road adjacent to Miranda House College is named G.C. Narang Road. It is also named after a very well known professor of Delhi University.  He is an Urdu theorist, literary critic and scholar. His books are in Urdu and English as well. In the beginning, he joined the faculty of St. Stephen’s College. He was also a visiting professor at the University of Wisconsin and worked as a teacher at the University of Minnesota and the University of Oslo. Dr Narang also received Padma Shri in 1990 and Padma Bhushan in 2004.

Shreya Mishra Marg

This road intersects Chatra Marg and between the faculty of Science and Zoology. Shreya Mishra was a very brilliant student of Delhi University. One day she was crossing the Charta Marg and met with a fatal accident when a reckless rickshaw driver knocked her over. Teachers and students raise questions about the security of students in the Campus. The University decided to name a road after her. Also, two speedbreakers in front of the women’s hostel on Chattra Marg to prevent such accidents in the future.
