H.C. Sen Marg
This marg starts from the fountain and continues till the Old Delhi Railway station. It intersects two paths one is Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Marg and the other is Chandni Chowk Marg. The person on whom this road is named was a legendary doctor. Dr. Hem Chandra Sen was the first Indian allopathic doctor. He is also credited for initiating Durga Puja in Delhi. He cures people without any fees. A pharmacy was also set up by him which is still there and known as H.C. Sen and Company. In the list of his patients apart from common people, Indian nationalist leaders and even Europeans are included.
Rai Kedarnath Marg
One can find this road adjacent to Mahatma Gandhi park of Chandni Chowk. In front of Old Delhi Railway station, this road lies. Lala Rai Kedarnath after whom this road is named was a great personality and his contribution to the education of young people can’t be described in words. He is the one who founded the prestigious Ramjas College of Delhi University. Kedarnath resigned from the post of Session judge and devoted himself to the cause of education. In 1912 he founded the Ramjas Education Society, to commemorate the name of his father. This society exists till today and runs various schools and colleges.
Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Marg
This is a very long, big and busy road. The entrance of Old Delhi Railway station is on this road. Like this road, the person after whom this road is named is a great personality. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee is known for various things. He was a politician, well-known barrister and academician. Mukherjee was also the first Minister for Industry and Supply in Independent India. He was also known for being the youngest ever Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University. His biggest milestone was the foundation of a new political party, the Bharatiya Janta Party.
