In India, NCERT is the one which looks forward to the things related to books and education etc. at the school level. This library has a very vast collection of books, journals, papers, etc., particularly on school education. Here one can find books on psychology, environmental education, value education, literature and languages, reports of various commissions, educational surveys, policy documents, etc. People who have a keen interest in school education will find it so helpful. But such a huge and interesting collection attracts everyone and book lovers really enjoy this place.

How to get a membership

Membership of the library can be availed by anyone who is interested. They have different types of memberships. People can apply under any one of them which fulfil their needs. Under casual membership, one has to fill out the form, attach documents related to address proof and a letter of recommendation from their institution. For external membership either you should have a letter from the institution or a reference from NCERT faculty. Different organizations can also get a membership. Though institutional and external memberships are limited to Delhi & NCR only.

Membership fees

The library provided casual membership free of cost. You should attach the above-mentioned documents with the form. But they can not borrow any books. Only a reading, photocopying facility will be available to them. External members have to submit Rs. 2000 as a security deposit (refundable). Their membership period will be one year and can borrow two books. Institutional membership can be availed by organizations and educational institutions. They have to make a security deposit of Rs. 5000 (refundable). They have also had to pay Rs 2000 for the annual enrolment processing fee.

Location and working hours

This is a government library. It is maintained and looked after by the officials of NCERT. The location of this library is Sri Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi. The nearest metro station is Hauz Khas.

One can visit it anytime between 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on any working day from Monday to Friday. The library remains open on Saturdays and Sundays also, the timing on these days is 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Though on Gazetted holidays it will remain closed.
