Date

He was the third ruler of the short-lived Sayyid dynasty. Muhammed Shah ruled for around the years from 1435 to 1445. It was built in 1444 and is one of the largest surviving tombs of its time. When this dynasty came into power the financial condition of the Sultanate was not so good. So, there are not many big architectural structures of the dynasty available. Though there are various small tombs and mausoleums of their architectural legacy have spread through Delhi. That is why the importance of this structure increases multifold. This is the most beautifully ornamented, designed architectural example of the Sayyid dynasty.

The tomb of Muhammed Shah was built in an octagonal structure. It is a beautifully decorated and carefully planned monument. It consists of all the features of its time. The corners are buttressed and the walls have decorative plaster. The roof of this historical structure has chhatris. The decorative work has been done on the doorways as well. The premises did not have the tomb of Muhammed Shah only. Other family members of the third rulers of the Sayyid dynasty have been buried here. One can even see the original coloured plasterwork in some of the parts, on their visit to this monument.
