Meeting Point: Entry gate to Humayun’s Tomb
Welcome to Delhipedia Heritage walks! This Sunday we are taking a tour of Humayun’s Tomb and the tomb of poet saint Abdur Rahim Khan-i-Khanan, in addition to the many surrounding structures. Built in the 16th century, both places are of great historical importance. Their lives, however, have been entirely different and their present conditions stand in a contrast to each other.
Itinerary
Beginning at 10 am, we will meet at Humayun’s Tomb entry gate, opposite to the Sunder Nursery gate. The walk will begin with a visit to the Tomb of Isa Khan and the adjacent mosque.
We will then move towards the Bu Halima gate and the Arab ki Sarai before we enter the Humayun’s Tomb enclosure.
After walking in and around the monument, we will either walk or take an e-rickshaw to the nearby Rahim’s tomb where we will again require tickets for entry.
Once inside we will witness the beauty of the structure and the recent conservation effort done to preserve it, discussing its history and architecture.
Duration: 3 hours
