In A Change Of Strategy, Delhi Amps Up Antigen Tests

Delhi government has asked 11 district magistrates to conduct 2000 antigen tests for COVID-19, every day under their respective jurisdictional areas in order to double the testing numbers. Prior to these directions, 500 to 1000 tests were being conducted in these districts.
The government, in the change of strategy, is now focusing on amping up the testing as the positivity rate in Delhi has been going down for the past week which is a good sign stating that the spread is coming under control.
Delhi saw 10,000 antigen tests and 9,913 RTPCR tests being done on Wednesday, this week. Home Minister Amit Shah said that more testing through rapid antigen kits would help bring down the infection transmission rate below 10% as suggested by WHO.
So far, more than 5 lakh people have been tested out of which 92,175 people were found to be positive. Delhi has reported 2,800 fatalities and 63,007 recoveries. While the active cases tally up to 26,304.
