Idea to Brand Series – Celebrating Indian Brands that Grew Big

When you step inside the flagship Good Earth store at Delhi’s Khan Market, you enter more than a shop — you step into a story. A story of design rooted in heritage, told through craftsmanship, fragrance, music, and mindful luxury.

The First Step

The first Good Earth store opened in Mumbai at Kemps Corner, offering a space where tradition and modern design could coexist. The shelves carried more than objects — they carried stories shaped by village artisans and adapted for city lifestyles.

Delhi Calling

Good Earth’s flagship store in Delhi, designed by Studio Lotus, is one of the brand’s finest expressions. Envisioned as a souk, the Khan Market store invites discovery at every turn — with signature designs, curated playlists, incense rituals, and attentive service that create an immersive cultural experience.

The Good Earth Way

Good Earth stands for luxury that is mindful. Each piece is designed to honour artisans, sustain traditional crafts, and create a new vocabulary of Indian luxury. From home décor to textiles, fragrances, and jewellery, the brand consistently balances beauty with purpose.

Growing the Vision

From that single store in Mumbai, Good Earth has grown into a global design house. Today, it has 11 stores across India and a thriving web boutique that ships to over 100 countries. Every collection celebrates the heritage of the Indian subcontinent and the Silk Route, reinterpreted through a modern lens.

The Heart Behind It

Founder and Creative Director Anita Lal remains the soul of the brand. Known as a natural storyteller, she continues to oversee design and detail — from fabrics and fragrances to the music that fills every store. Her philosophy is clear: “Objects should make us proud of our history — and spark joy for years to come.”

Giving Back to Craft

In 2021, Good Earth’s commitment to craft preservation was formalised with the Good Earth Heritage Foundation, which safeguards and nurtures India’s artisanal traditions for generations to come.

Today & Beyond

From Delhi to London, from a potter’s wheel to international showcases, Good Earth’s journey proves that brands rooted in purpose can grow global without losing their soul. It remains a celebration of India’s heritage — told through design, craft, and culture.

Good Earth’s journey is more than a brand story — it is a reminder of how heritage and modernity can co-exist beautifully. From a potter’s wheel in Mumbai to a flagship store in Delhi’s Khan Market, and from artisan clusters in India to homes across 100 countries, Good Earth has become a symbol of mindful luxury.

By celebrating craft, empowering artisans, and reimagining tradition for contemporary living, Good Earth continues to prove that design rooted in purpose can thrive on the global stage without losing its soul.
