G20 Summit Traffic Advisory: New Delhi District (September 8-10, 2023)​

The city is set to see a series of traffic restrictions in light of important events in the New Delhi district. Below is a comprehensive list of the guidelines:

Vehicle Restrictions:

  • HGVs, MGVs, and LGVs: Not permitted to enter Delhi from 21:00 hours on 07.09.2023 to 23:59 hours on 10.09.2023.
  • Essential Commodities: Vehicles with valid “no-entry permissions” carrying items like milk, fruits, medical supplies, etc. will be allowed.
  • Taxi and TSR Restrictions: No TSR and taxi permitted in New Delhi district from 05:00 hours of 09.09.2023 to 23:59 hours on 10.09.2023.
  • Commercial Vehicles: Allowed to move on Ring Road and beyond towards Delhi borders.
  • Specific Permissions: Taxis transporting residents, tourists with valid hotel bookings, and those heading to the New Delhi railway station are exempted.
  • Emergency and Essential Services: Vehicles from armed forces, police, disaster management, fire tenders, ambulances, and road maintenance, electric and water supply, communication networks can move freely.

Establishments and Services:

  • Governmental Entities: All Central and State government bodies, educational institutions in the NCT of Delhi will be closed from September 8-10.
  • Commercial Entities: All banks, financial institutions, shops, and businesses in the New Delhi Police District will remain shut during the aforementioned period.
  • Specific Road Restrictions:

    • No entry on Mathura Road beyond Ashram Chowk, Bhairon Marg, and Purana Qila Road.
    • NH-48 towards Dhaula Kuan will see no vehicular movement, and traffic will be diverted to Rao Tula Ram Marg-Olaf Palme Marg.
    • Probable traffic constraints in areas from Geeta Colony to Shanti Van Chowk, Vikas Marg to ITO, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg to Rajghat Chowk, and Minto Road to Guru Nanak Chowk.
  • Additional Facilities by Delhi Traffic Police:

    • Virtual help desk for live VIP movement tracking.
    • A dedicated Ambulance Assistance Control Room.
    • Coordinated mapping efforts with Google Maps for real-time updates.
