Dastan-e-Raj Kapoor at Museo Camera: A Dastangoi Tribute to the Legends of Indian Cinema
On 2nd August 2025, the walls of Museo Camera in Gurugram echoed with memories of India’s golden cinematic era as theatre and history came alive in the form of Dastan-e-Raj Kapoor — a Dastangoi tribute to two towering legends of Indian cinema: Raj Kapoor and Prithviraj Kapoor.
Delhipedia had the privilege of witnessing this unforgettable storytelling performance that traced the extraordinary journeys of the Kapoor patriarchs. The daastan opened with Prithviraj Kapoor’s early struggles — from the streets of Peshawar to the theatres of Bombay and Kolkata — capturing his evolution from a small-time actor to a national icon. It then moved into the world of Raj Kapoor, the visionary filmmaker who redefined Indian cinema with stories of dreams, heartbreak, and hope.
Performed with depth and passion by Rana Pratap and Rajesh Kumar, the script was penned by Sibtain Shahidi, directed by Mahmood Farooqui, and produced by Anusha Rizvi. The format of Dastangoi — an ancient Urdu storytelling art form — lent the evening a rare intimacy, blending history with performance, emotion with memory.
Every pause, every word, and every gesture transported the audience into a time when Indian cinema was more than entertainment — it was a cultural revolution.
This event wasn’t just a performance — it was a heartfelt celebration of legacy, resilience, and the timeless power of storytelling.
