India commenced the second phase of CoVid-19 vaccination on Monday, the 1st of March. The vaccination drive covers people of age 60 years and above and people above the age of 45 who have co-morbidities and are eligible for vaccination. The second phase intends to cover almost 27 crore people in India. So far, 1.45 crore people have been received Covid vaccine shots.

Registration opened at 9 am today at www.cowin.gov.in. Appointments will be closed at 3 pm on the day for which the slots are opened. The vaccination centres are open from 9 am to 3 pm. The coronavirus vaccines will be given for free in government centres and will have to be paid for by people in private facilities. The Centre has capped the cost of CoVid vaccines in private facilities at Rs. 250 per person.

Here is how you can register to get the vaccine:

  • Log on to www.cowin.gov.in and enter your mobile number. (You can also use the Cowin 2.0 app) An OTP will be sent to your number.
  • Enter the OTP and click on the “Verify” button. Once the OTP is verified the “Registration of Vaccination” page opens up.
  • Enter details required in the “Registration of Vaccination” page such as your photo ID proof. You will also be asked if you have any comorbidities. This can be answered by clicking on ‘yes’ or ‘no’.
  • Once the details are entered for registration, click “Register” button at the bottom right. You will receive a confirmation for successful registration.
  • Once registration is done, you will be shown the “Account Details”. You can schedule your appointment from the “Account Details” page.
  • There will be a button indicating schedule appointment. Click on it and schedule your appointment.
  • Citizens are also allowed to add three more people linked with this mobile number by clicking on the “Add More” button at the bottom right side of the page. Enter all the details of the individuals to be included and then click on the “Add” button.

You can also use the Aarogya Setu App for the same. A separate tab has been created on the app for CoVid vaccine registrations. There are other options like On-Site registrations or Facilitated Cohort Registrations (which will involve State Governments, UTs and other lower level government structures facilitating these registrations) for people who can not access smartphones or the internet.
