CM inaugurates Delhi’s first Drive-through Vaccination facility at Dwarka

On Wednesday, Delhi launched its first drive-through vaccination facility at Vegas Mall in Dwarka locality. In association with Akash Healthcare Super Hospital, the mall set up a drive-through vaccination booth, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Vegas Mall is located in Sector 14 of Dwarka, a South-West Delhi locality.

With regards to the acute shortage of vaccines due to which vaccination of 18+ year-old citizens was halted, the Chief Minister said, “It is the Centre’s responsibility to procure vaccines from different countries for all states … In case of a war, should Delhi come up with a nuclear bomb, UP come up with a tank … ? On Tuesday, Delhi recorded 1,550 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 207 fatalities.

Although the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine manufacturers have refused to sell the vaccine directly to the Delhi Government, the manufacturers of Sputnik V have agreed to supply the vaccine to Delhi Government. Its quantity is yet to be decided.

The city has been collapsing under a brutal second wave of Covid-19, claiming a large number of deaths, as the hospitals simultaneously struggle for oxygen and supply of other resources.
