Launched in August 2013 by documentary filmmaker Arjun Pandey, Delhipedia was started with an aim to discover the best of Delhi, one video at a time. From the city’s monuments and religious places to its markets and people, Delhipedia takes Delhiites on an audio-visual tour of the capital – serving as the perfect encyclopedia for its residents. At Delhipedia, we cover all aspects of the city, starting from heritage monuments, happy bazaars, thriving cultural scene, to platefuls of delicious food that bring Delhiites together.
Delhipedia’s Facebook Page, YouTube channel, and App bring alive the true essence of Delhi and its magnificent culture. In order to explore the unexplored, our team has been creating and uploading short videos on our several Social Media channels and have built a successful community on Facebook. With the idea to bring in some ‘fun’ element and at the same time, we help people discover places of interest. In a way, Delhipedia is an audio visual running encyclopedia about the city, which the Delhiites are still unaware of.
Essentially a city guide, Delhipedia’s videos can be accessed through its Facebook page, an Android application and a YouTube channel which currently has about 190+ videos on various people and places including Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, one of the nine historical gurdwaras in Delhi; the well-known PrabhuChaatBhandar near Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Moolchandparanthewala; along with Dolma aunty whose momo stall in Lajpat Nagar is a crowd puller.
Our Video bank has about 100 videos waiting to go up online. From start to end, it takes about two to three days to plan, shoot and post process a video. Our team consists of seasoned cinematographers and producers. For monuments and markets, we include facts, history and the reason for popularity. For restaurants, we include the reason for popularity, recommend some signature dishes and also generally talk to the chef. With an iOS application in the pipeline, Delhipedia ensures that it documents the city in all its aspect so that it appeals to a wide audience with varied interests. At Delhipedia, we also curate a variety of events – recitals, art festivals, theatre performances, magic shows to appeal to audience. The mobile app includes smaller bytes of all our videos, along with information about the city. One feature of our App lets you search for things near your location. The App also shows small clips to make it easier for you to know more about the place of your choice. It is currently available for free download on Google Play Store.
We do take suggestions from the public. We’re always on a lookout for great stories and would love to take up a lead, research and then make a video about it. So, do not hesitate to contact us on email@example.com
