A Grand Entrance
On either side of the entrance, tall terracotta horse sculptures set the tone for what lies inside. The architecture itself is a spectacle — carved wooden pillars painted in red and gold, marble balconies with jaali work, and a soaring stained-glass ceiling in floral patterns. Every corner feels designed to immerse visitors in craft and culture.
Illuminated India
The first stop is Illuminated India, where rows of traditional diyas glow from a striking green wall of shelves. From the clay diyas of Rajasthan to the temple deepams of Tamil Nadu, each lamp becomes more than just an object — it is a symbol of India’s shared cultural light.
Karigar Sangam – A Tribute to Masters
To the left, the Karigar Sangam Hall honours Shilp Gurus and National Awardees. The walls are lined with framed artworks and rare handicrafts — giant Jodhpur Mojari footwear, Kalamkari woodblocks, and embroidered parakhi from Rajasthan. This section pays tribute to the masters who have preserved India’s craft traditions for generations.
The 100 Sarees Installation
At the atrium, the highlight awaits — an installation woven from 100 sarees, suspended in the air. From Banarasis and Paithanis to Ikats and Kanjeevarams, the sarees together form a breathtaking tribute to India’s textile legacy, reminding visitors how regional traditions are bound into a single national fabric.
Curated Retail Experiences
The Kunj is not just a cultural showcase; it is also a carefully curated retail hub. Spread across two floors, the stores offer both craft and context. Each shop features storytelling walls narrating the journey of the artisan or enterprise it represents. From MeMeraki, reviving endangered art forms through lifestyle products, to Khel Ghar, bringing back traditional Indian games as learning tools, every space is as much about narrative as it is about retail.
Playful Corners and Living Art
The mood shifts into playfulness at the Hand-Crafted Garden, where giant cloth flowers become instant photo-ops. A striking wall titled Of Hands and Heritage showcases nearly 400 crowd-sourced photographs of artisans at work. Even the seating areas are immersive — painted in vibrant Warli and Madhubani styles, so that even over coffee or chai, visitors remain surrounded by craft traditions.
