On the occasion of Janmashtami, we bring to you a list of some of the most iconic Krishna temples in the city you must visit today to witness the grand festivities.

1. Iskcon Temple

This temple, built in 1998, was inaugurated by the former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the presence of former Chief Minister of Delhi Sahib Singh Verma and Sushma Swaraj.

2. Birla Temple

The temple, inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi, was built by Jugal Kishore Birla from 1933 and 1939. The smaller temples in the complex are dedicated to Shiva, Krishna and Buddha. It was the first large Hindu temple built in Delhi.

3.  Akshardham Temple

The construction started in 2000 and was completed within five years. Standing on the banks of River Yamuna, Akshardham Temple was opened to the public on 6th November 2005.

4. Shri Jagannath Temple

The Shri Jagannath Temple of Faridabad is a replica of the famous Shri Jagannath Dham of Puri. The temple is not accessible for darshan 15 days before the Rath Yatra for the purpose of bathing and sanctification. Pran Pratishtha Puja, Kartik Purnima and Ashad Prahari Utsav are celebrated with great pomp on Holi in the temple.

5. Sheetla Mata and Bhuteshwar Temple

The current temple was built in the 18th century by the Hindu Jat king Jawahar Singh of Bharatpur, in memory of his victory over the Mughals, for which he had invoked the blessings of Sheetla Mata.
