1. Oye Lucky Lucky Oye! (2008)

Mapping the life of the infamous Bunty Chor, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye! is a 2009 comedy film about Lucky, a boy hailing from West Delhi. More than the locations, the movie brings out the unique common culture, attributes and linguistics of Delhi through its characters and storylines.

2. 99 (2009)

99 is a gangster-comedy film starring Kunal Khemu, Cyrus Broacha, Soha Ali Khan, and Boman Irani. The song ‘Delhi Destiny’ from this movie has scenic visuals of the city, especially the Hauz Khas area. 

3. Aloo Chaat (2009)

A romantic comedy with an ensemble cast, Aloo Chaat is a tangy family drama-meets-romance story about two lovers coming from different religious backgrounds. Several scenes of this movie were shot in Delhi and the characters of nosy relatives and noisy families bear a very strong resemblance to the social culture of delhiwallas.

4. Aisha (2010)

Aisha is a Bollywood adaptation of Jane Austen’s Novel Emma starring Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol. The storyline and characters of Aisha are reflective of the idiosyncrasy of the upper echelons in Delhi. Location-wise, it covers many parts of South Delhi and its social life. 

5. Bewakoofiyan (2014)

Bewakoofiyan is a slice of life rom-com set in the heart of Delhi- the Lutyen’s Delhi, with certain parts of the movie shot in Gurgaon and West Delhi.  The song ‘Khamakhaan’ was shot in Connaught Place at night giving us a reminiscing peek into the quietness and solitude of Delhi at night. 

6. Ankhon Dekhi (2013)

Ankhon Dekhi is a philosophical comedy starring Sanjay Mishra. Set in the lanes of Old Delhi, the movie beautifully captures the characters, indoor and outdoor locations, as well as the culture of Purani Dilli. 

7. Mere Brother ki Dulhan (2011)

Mere Brother ki Dulhan, starring Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif, beautifully captures some of the most famous heritage sites in Delhi. The song ‘Choomantar’ showcased every Delhiite’s favourite India Gate and Humayun’s Tomb. 

8. Rockstar (2011)

Reminiscent for every DU student in the country, the locations of Rockstar perfectly captured the college student life of Delhi University. The major chunk of the movie was shot in various parts of North Campus such as Hindu College, Stephen’s College, and The Ridge. Some scenes were also shot in Hauz Khas, Nizamuddin Dargah, and Connaught Place.
