As the city fell into two successive lockdowns in 2020-21, many revived long-lost hobbies and nurtured new passions out of the monotony staying indoors. While some rediscovered interests and found ways to pass their time better, others took it a step further and created services for the world around them.
One instance of the latter is the story of mother-daughter duo Ritu and Kaveri, and their handcrafted baking project called Project 90. Earlier in the first lockdown, they started baking chocolate and vanilla cakes for their friends, an activity that soon turned into their most pleasurable hours as they were finally getting to spend time with each other, baking conversations along with delicious cakes.
The project means more to them than just selling bundles of love to their friends, they also hope to use the revenue generated to invest directly in the education of underprivileged girl children, as well as support a potential woman entrepreneur with initial resources and information that they might need to set up their own business and become independent.
Starting from a minimum of three cakes, their menu has now expanded and includes entirely hand made cakes available in both egg and eggless variants. They also have a marvellous vegan chocolate cake, thus catering to dessert needs across varying food habits.
They dream of spreading the project to other cities and get on board women who could spread this love across the country while creating employment opportunities.
Support them in their dream of ‘baking’ the world a better place and make the day of a loved one by sending them a handmade cake. Order today!
