7 Movies shot in the Qutub Complex, Delhi

Tere Ghar Ke Saamne (1963)

Indian classic film and a major hit of its times ‘Tere Ghar Ke Saamne’ was shot in Qutub Complex. The lead star cast of the movie has one of the very well known Dev Anand, Nutan, Rajendra Nath and Om Prakash. The song of this movie ‘Dill ka Bhanwar Kare Pukaar’ was perhaps the last song shot inside the tallest minaret of medieval India, Qutub Minar. After that doors were closed and filmmakers were not allowed to shoot inside Minar.

Fanaa (2006)

It was a romantic thriller of Yash Raj Films starring Amir Khan and Kajol. This 2006 film was the debut film of Amir Khan as an anti-hero. He plays the role of a tour guide and Kajol plays a blind Kashmiri woman in this film. They both fall in love with each other. Later on, the movie revealed that Amir Khan is a terrorist. The movie beautifully depicts various parts of Delhi. Lead actors dance on a romantic song ‘Chand Sifarish’ in and around Qutub Minar.

Cheeni Kam (2007)

The oldest continuously inhabited place of Delhi (Mehrauli) is not only attracting tourists but a desirable location for filmmakers as well. The shooting of ‘Cheeni Kam’ starring Amitabh Bachchan, Tabu and Paresh Rawal took place in the vicinity of Qutub Complex. The Romantic comedy film shows various locations of it. The scene in which Amitabh hugs the Iron pillar so that his wish gets fulfilled, especially attracted the attention of the audience. It has been claimed that just after this movie the number of visitors increased a lot. 

Black and White (2008)

A Subhash Ghai directed crime thriller movie was also shot in Qutub Complex. Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Aditi Sharma and Anurag Sinah were the lead cast of the movie. The plot of the movie revolves around the life of a suicide bomber who plan to do a blast in India on the occasion of Independence day. The movies show certain locations of this historical site. 

Jannat 2 (2012)

The iconic monuments and natural beauty of Qutub Complex attract filmmakers to shot parts of their movies here. The shooting of movies here has a history of its own. Producers and directors choose this location mainly for shooting love songs. Romantic Song ‘Tu he Mera’ of Jannat 2 staring Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta and Randeep Hooda was also shot in the different locations of Qutub Complex. 

Zila Ghaziabad (2013)

The widespread area and enough space for settling laser lights make Qutub Minar a perfect location for shooting songs here. The combination of historicity and modern technology brings a different effect in shooting here. Certain parts of the movie ‘Zila Ghaziabad’ were shot in different locations of Delhi. Its plot is inspired by the true story of gang wars in Ghaziabad. Some parts and songs of the movie were shot in Qutub Minar as well. 

Kick (2014)

The craze and importance of this location for shooting movie scenes can be understood by the fact that movies of the biggest stars of the industry like Amir Khan and Salman Khan films were also shot here. Blockbuster movie Kick starring Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez was shot here in March 2014. Different other locations of Delhi were also used by the filmmakers for the shooting of this movie.
